37 lizards, 25 stink bugs, 21 switchbacks, 1488 feet

We did it!! John, Tanner and I hiked Angels Landing at Zion National Park... Remember this post last year... I quit a mile into it! This time everything went perfect... well, except for running out of water. It was hot out, but we started the hike at 5:00pm Utah time, so the sun was setting behind the mountain, we never had direct sun on us! It was great.

I was so proud of Tanner... he was a trooper. When he started getting tired we decided to count the lizards we saw... then we threw rocks off the cliffs and then we counted the sharp switchbacks! They were deadly! He isn't a big fan of heights and he did it. I wish Ashley and Mitchell could have been there! We will have to do it again for them...plus I only had my camera on my phone.. so i need to go back for better pics... these don't do the views justice!

Tanner getting sand out of his shoes...

Little did we know... the sign was true!

There was a big sections where you have to hold onto the railings...
it was a long way down! I kept saying "look at your feet and the chain... don't look to the side!"

We got to this point and we thought we were done... then someone said,
the top is over there...the top of that peak!
See how narrow that path is?? crazy

Water was about gone and Tanner was hot!

Steep!

I think I can make it!

Look how far we went!

I wish you could tell how high up he was...

a baby chipmunk... so cute. He wasn't shy...

He was so happy! He has been begging me to do this hike for years!

We made it!!

We saw this eagle (or hawk) soaring the sky! It was a perfect ending!

i almost DIED on that hike. it was the most embarrassing thing EVER. i had an upper respiratory infection, but i didn't know that at the time. the guy i was with (brandon slade) said that it was a simple hike... and i didn't want to look like a wuss, i never saw that sign! literally, about half way up, i couldn't breathe. we made it to the top, and by the time i got home from our little "date", i ended up at quick care with an i.v. and breathing treatments... i had PNEUMONIA!! good thing i was young and in really good shape.
